OUR FLOORING JOURNEY
Serving the Finger Lakes with Flooring Excellence Since 1947 – Generations of Craftsmanship, Design Expertise & Quality Results
At Church’s Flooring, flooring is more than just a business—it’s our family legacy. Founded in 1947 by John H. Church, our company started as a small operation in his garage before moving to Exchange Street in Geneva in 1950, taking over the old Weise & Fisher Store. As demand grew, John H. Church expanded in 1954, building a massive furniture and flooring store on Route 5 & 20 in Waterloo. His vision for high-quality flooring led to further expansion in 1969, when he built the area’s largest carpet department adjacent to the Waterloo store.
After decades of dedication, John H. Church retired at 83 years old, passing the flooring business to John M. Church Sr., who, alongside his son John M. Church Jr. (Johnny), continued to serve the Finger Lakes with expert craftsmanship and customer service. The store operated successfully until its closure in 2014, but the Church name remained synonymous with quality flooring installation, hardwood, luxury vinyl plank (LVP), laminate, tile, and carpet.
In 2021, Johnny and his son, John J. Church (JJ), proudly re-opened Church’s Flooring, continuing the family’s mission of excellence in flooring design, installation, and customer service. Though John H. Church and John M. Church Sr. have passed on, their legacy lives through Johnny and JJ, who remain committed to honoring their family’s name by providing the best flooring solutions in the Finger Lakes region. At Church’s Flooring, we don’t just install floors—we treat every project as a work of art, ensuring beauty, durability, and customer satisfaction in every home we touch.
